Medcem Cement has a nnounced that it will produce 22 per cent of the electricity it needs, as it expects to commission its second waste heat recovery (WHR) system soon.  Medcem Cement ( Eren Holding Group ) currently provides enough green energy to supply 25,000 houses without consuming any resources. Medcem receives export award

Turkey-based Medcem has been awarded as both the company with the highest grey cement exports and the company with the highest increase in grey cement exports. The award was delivered at a gala night for Turkish Cement Exporters. Alongside this, Medcem is currently embarking on a US$230m project to expand its Mersin factory, raising clinker production capacity from 3.5Mta to 6.5Mta.

Cameroon's Mira Cement, a new entry to the market, has announced a project to construct a 1Mta plant in Douala. Medcem Cameroon, part of Turkey-based Eren Holdings, has commissioned its new plant in Yaoundé, Cameroon, after delays that saw the unit postpone the start of operations from March to June and October.  The company’s output is sold in 50kg bags, which retail at CFA4750 (US$7.97), according to local press reports.
