Cameroon's four main producers plan expansions

Cameroon's Mira Cement, a new entry to the market, has announced a project to construct a 1Mta plant in Douala. Meanwhile, all of the country's four main producers have plans to expand their production in the coming years, according to The Africa Report. The Cameroonian part-owner of the country’s newest cement producer, Medcem, has spoken of the ambitions behind his partnership with Turkish investors, Business Cameroon reports. Medcem Cameroon, part of Turkey-based Eren Holdings, has commissioned its new plant in Yaoundé, Cameroon, after delays that saw the unit postpone the start of operations from March to June and October.  The company’s output is sold in 50kg bags, which retail at CFA4750 (US$7.97), according to local press reports.

Turkish cement producer Medcem plans to built a 3Mta works in the north of Colombia, according to local press reports. Eren Holdings to build cement plant in Cameroon

Turkey-based Eren Holdings has signed an investment agreement with the Cameroon government which will see its local subsidiary Medcem build a new cement plant in the African country. The new works is expected to add 0.6Mta to the domestic production base, which currently consists of Lafarge’s Cimencam 1.6Mta plant and the 0.5Mta Cimaf unit of Addoha.
