Oman Cement posts 5% decline in net profit

Oman Cement has posted a 4.8 per cent decline in net profit to OMR2m (US$5.2m) in the first half of 2021, compared to OMR2.1m in the year-ago period. Total revenue fell 9.1 per cent YoY to OMR24m from OMR26.4m in the 1H20.

Raysut Cement sees net loss contract in 1H21

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co has seen its net loss after tax contract to OMR3.2m (US$8.3m) in the first half of 2021, compared to OMR10.9m in the same period of last year. Total revenue remained largely consistent YoY at OMR45m from OMR44.8m in the 1H20.

A new Redecam Group Sp A turnkey project has been successfully started up on Line 2 at LafargeHolcim’s Sokhna cement plant, Egypt. Redecam Egypt converted the main kiln/RM electrostatic precipitator filter into   a baghouse filter. It also enhanced the cooling system for the clinker cooler, including a partial ESP retrofit. Egypt to cut cement manufacturing by 11%

Egypt's competition authority has approved a request by 23 cement manufacturers to temporarily reduce production to reduce output, setting a baseline cut at 10.69 per cent. The competition authority decision, dated 5 July, said there would be additional cuts of 2.81 per cent for each production line and further cuts depending on the company’s age, according to a Reuters report. The quotas would come into force on 15 July and remain in place for one year, the document said.

Sinoma Construction to supply 2000tpd white cement line for Biskria Cement

Sinoma Construction Algeria has signed a contract with Biskria Cement for a 2000tpd white cement project, including site installation and civil construction service contract. Saudi Cement Co has announced the resignation of board member Mohammad Sulaiman Balghonaim and the appointment of Mansour Mohammed Balghonaim as a member of the board to complete the term of his predecessor for the remainder of the current term, which ends on 31 December 2021. Mr Balghonaim has around 16 years of experience in banking and currently serves as head of Business Development for Wholesale Banking at the Gulf International Bank.

Iranian cement market expands 28% MoM in May

Iranian cement consumption in May 2021 reached 5.78Mt. This represents a 28.4 per cent MoM increase from 4.5Mt in April 2021. In addition to domestic deliveries, producers exported 0.34Mt of cement, down 26.1 per cent MoM, and 0.79Mt of clinker, up 3.9 per cent MoM. Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement has announced a new 10,000tpd production line at its Jizan cement plant in the south of the country. The project will replace the plant’s current production lines, with construction expected to begin in the second half of 2021.

Iran’s cement market contracted by 24 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt in April 2021, according to the Iranian Cement Association. In April 2020 the country’s demand reached 5.91Mt.
