Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 5.6 per cent to 9.2Mt in May 2021 when compared with May 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). GCC reports 44% increase in 2Q net income

GCC saw its consolidated net sales increased 18.1 per cent YoY to US$286.7m in the 2Q21 from US$242.8m in the 2Q20. EBITDA advanced 18.6 per cent YoY to US$97m in the 2Q21 from US$81.8m in the 2Q20. As a result, the EBITDA margin edged up from 33.7 per cent to 33.8 per cent over the same period. Net income increased 43.8 per cent to US$47.7m in the 2Q21 from US$33.2m in the year-ago period. GCC reports strong 2Q21 results and prepares for expansion

GCC reported a net sales increase of 18 per cent in the 2Q21 and a rise in EBITDA of 19 per cent. The company’s net financial expenses totalled US$10m during this accounting period. Portland and blended cement shipments, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico, saw a 19 per cent YoY increase to 9.7Mt in April 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The leading cement-consuming states were Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Ohio, who accounted for a combined share of 40 per cent of total shipments. Newberry plant sets two new records

Argos has announced that in June 2021 its Newberry plant in Florida, USA, smashed two previous records. It produced 140,421t, beating the previous record set in June 2019 (127,800t) by nearly 20,000t. Because of this increase in production, the plant was also able to ship 128,728t of product to customers and its ready-mix plants, beating the previous record of 120,900t, set in 2019, by more than 7000t. Lhoist North America and Maerz Ofenbau AG have started up a new lime kiln in Montevallo, USA. The Maerz R4S type PFR kiln has a nominal production rate of 600tpd of soft-burned lime.  Lhoist North America is also expanding its dolomitic quicklime production at Marble Falls, Texas, as well as a new lime kiln at its New Braunfels, Texas facility.
