Oman Cement Co , which is listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange, has achieved a 32.02 per cent increase in net profit for the first half of 2023. According Oman Cement’s financial statement, it achieved annual profits of OMR4.19m for the 1H23, surpassing the OMR3.17m achieved in the 1H22. The company saw revenue growth of 5.13 per cent in the 1H23 and revenue totalled IMR36.76m, up from OMR34.96m in the 1H22.

The Omani Environment Authority (EA) has suspended issuing licences for exporting used tyres to support the local cement and other industries. The authority is also working on deciding to prevent waste cartons for export. As part of efforts to reduce its reliance on natural gas, Oman Cement plans to commission a waste-to-energy (WTE) plant, using shredded scrap tyres. Oman Cement invites bid for Line 4 project

Oman Cement has invited bids for a contract to expand the capacity of its plant in Rusayl. The company’s CEO, Salim al Hajri, noted that planned expansion includes the construction of a new line (Line 4) with a capacity of 10,000tpd of cement. In addition, the existing Line 3 would be upgraded to 5000tpd from the current 4000tpd. The expansion is expected to meet domestic demand and reduce import dependence.

Oman Cement plans brownfield project

Oman Cement is reportedly planning to proceed with a brownfield expansion of its cement works, which would see it increase clinker capacity to 15,000tpd from 8700tpd. The company is expected to construct a new 10,000tpd line and upgrade its Line 3 from 4000tpd to 5000tpd, while decommissioning its two older lines. It has contracted PEG Resources (Switzerland) to carry out the technical study, alongside the tendering and contracting process.
