Dangote sees revenue advance 15% YoY in 9M22

Dangote Cement has reported group revenue of NGN1177.3bn (US$2.68bn) in the first nine months of 2022, up 15.2 per cent YoY. Group EBITDA over the same period advanced by 0.2 per cent to NGN515.9bn, with an EBITDA margin of 43.8 per cent. Cement price in Ziguinchor falls to XOF88,000

The Regional Consumer Council (CRC) of Ziguinchor (South), Senegal, set the sale price of cement at XOF88,000 (US$129.81)/t following a meeting with stakeholders. A bag of cement will be sold at XOF4400/t. The new price, which represents a XOF2000 decrease, will be applied through the Ziguinchor region and first displayed in the various cement distribution locations, according to Ousmane Ka, head of the regional trade department.

Dangote Cement's regional volumes fall by 11% in 1H22

Dangote Cement 's pan-African volumes reduced by 11 per cent to 4.9Mt from 5.5Mt in the 1H22 due to increased supply chain challenges and maintenance activities.  The best-performing markets for the group were Ethiopia, Senegal and Tanzania. Senegalese cement sales see 6% upturn in January

In January 2022 Senegal’s cement market expanded 8.9 per cent when compared with December 2021 and 6.2 per cent when compared with January 2021, says the country’s National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD). Export sales declined 31.7 per cent MoM and 18.1 per cent YoY in January 2022.

Senegal sales up 12% YoY

Cement sales in Senegal advanced 12.7 per cent MoM and by 11.9 per cent YoY in November 2021, according to its National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD). Output from the plants of SOCOCIM, Dangote and Ciments du Sahel increased by 11 per cent MoM  and by 20.7 per cent YoY in November 2021. Exports declined 5.6 per cent in November 2021 when compared with export shipments in October 2021 although YoY they were up 29.6 per cent.

Senegal’s SOCOCIM has launched its “Climate Plan” to reduce its carbon footprint by opening a new production line at its Rufisque plant with a capacity of 10,000tpd. CIMAF to expand capacity with IFC, Proparco and EAIF financing

CIMAF will receive financial support from IFC, Proparco and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) to help its drive for capacity expansion to meet the growing demand for housing and infrastructure in west Africa. Senegal demand surges but exports fall in April

The Senegalese cement market expanded by 158.7 per cent in April 2021, according to the Agence Nationale de la Statistique et de la Demographie. However, domestic output declined by 9.9 per cent while export sales slipped by 3.5 per cent YoY in April 2021.

Cement exports from Senegal drop 35% in February

Exports of cement from Senegal declined 35.3 per cent MoM in February 2021, according to the country’s national statistics agency, ANSD. When compared with February 2020, exports decreased 32.4 per cent. Domestic sales fell by eight per cent MoM in February 2021 while output from Senegalese cement plants was down by 6.5 per cent in the same period. When compared with the equivalent month of 2020, sales and output improved by 12.5 and 3.1 per cent, respectively.
