ABB has received an order to provide electrification, automation and drive solutions for Medcem’s greenfield cement plant project in Turkey. The contract was awarded in July 2012. Oyak Cement to sell stake in Aslan Cemento, Turkey

Military-run business conglomerate Oyak Cement announced on Friday it had applied to the Central Registry Agency to sell an almost 10 per cent stake in subsidiary Aslan Cemento. Oyak owns a 96.85 per cent stake in Aslan and in the announcement it said it would sell 7.18 million units of stake out of a total 70.7 million it holds on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Turkish investors apply to build Sinai cement plant, Egypt

Turkish investors have applied to build a cement plant in the Sinai region of Egypt, after Egyptian authorities issued legislation on developing the peninsula, according to reports by Bloomberg citing local newspaper Al Masry Al Youm. The Turkish companies are reported to have filed a land request for the project, the daily reported citing General Ismail Al Nagdy who heads Egypt’s General Authority for Industrial Development.

Cimpor’s first half turnover declined by 5.5 per cent to €1086.8m, as the deterioration in Spain, Portugal and China could not be compensated for by improvements elsewhere.
