Origen shortlisted for UK government CCUS funding

The UK government has named ZerCaL250, a collaboration using Origen's zero-carbon tech and Singleton Birch’s lime production know-how, as one of 13 projects shortlisted nationally for the second phase of its carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) cluster process.  It is also one of eight industrial carbon capture (ICC) projects in the government’s East Coast Cluster, supported by zero carbon partnership Zero Carbon Humber.   All 13 projects are in the running for government funding. ...

MPA reports slowdown in UK mineral product sales

The Mineral Products Association has remarked that a disappointing quarter for UK producers of mineral products raises concerns that widespread cost inflation for raw materials, energy and labour is starting to negatively impact the sector. Breedon Goup's interim 2022 results saw revenue reach GBP671.1m (US$809.1m) up 12 per cent from GBP600.9m in 1H21. EBIT totalled GBP65.5m, up 22 per cent from GBP53.7m, and profit before tax totalled GBP59.5m, up 29 per cent from GBP46.2m. UK scientists look to develop zero-emissions cement
