Hanson to build UK's first net-zero cement plant

Hanson UK ( HeidelbergCement ) plans to build the UK’s first net-zero cement factory at a facility in north Wales. Hanson is aiming to capture up to 800,000t of CO 2 per year at its cement plant in Padeswood , near Mold. Mannok's sales director becomes vice chairperson of MPANI

Paddy Mohan, Mannok's Cement sales director, has taken the role of Vice Chairperson for the Mineral Products Association Northern Ireland (MPANI), an industry body which represents the entire mineral products industry in Northern Ireland and an organisation which Paddy has been a member of for 24 years. This new role marks an important milestone for Paddy as he previously had to step down from his role of vice chairperson shortly after he was elected in 2009 due to an illness.  

SigmaRoc records turnover of GBP49.3m in 2021

Building material producer SigmaRoc plc has announced its audited results for the year ended 31 December 2021 with turnover more than doubling to GBP272m and underlying EBITDA rising to GBP49.3m. Hercules Enterprises Ltd, majority owned by Spanish group Cementos La Cruz , is applying to Kent County Council (KCC) for permission to build a 500,000tpa grinding plant at Sheerness Docks, UK. Breedon Group Plc announced revenue from audited annual results for the year ended 31 December 2021 totalling GBP1232.5m, up 33 per cent from GBP928.7m in 2020. Profit before tax amounted to GBP114.3m compared to GBP48.1m in 2020, a rise of 138 per cent.
