Steppe Cement has announced that its full-year revenue for 2017 was 20 per cent higher than the previous year, reports Alliance News. The revenue for the period increased to KZT21.4bn (US$65m) from KZT17.9bn seen in 2016. The rise in revenue has been attributed to both an increase in cement prices and the volume of cement sold. JSW Cement Ltd will partner with a global equity firm to bid for Binani Cement, according to The Hindu BusinessLine. Vietnam’s demand for cement increased seven per cent YoY to 62Mt in 2017, according to the Department of Price Management, Ministry of Finance. The rise in cement sales has been attributed to a rise in construction projects, particularly in the real estate and transport sector. At the start of the new year, Mexican cement producers have raised the price of grey cement between 6-10 per cent, according to Ramiro Páez Cruz, president of the Mexican Association of Independent Concrete Co (AMCI). State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) reported sales of 26.6Mt of cement and clinker in 2017, representing a YoY increase of three per cent. The Argentine cement market expanded 6.8 per cent YoY in December 2017 with demand at 1,004,332t, according to the latest data by the country’s cement association, AFCP. In December 2016 national demand stood at 940,055t. However, when compared with November 2017, the market contracted by 14.9 per cent.
