Holcim Argentina appoints Carlos Espina as new CEO

Mr Espina has been the LafargeHolcim’s senior vice president of research and development since 2012 and based in the group’s Research Centre in Lyon, France. Holder of a degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Sciences of the University of Oviedo, Spain and an MBA of the European School of Management Development (EUDEM), he was CEO of Arcelor Méditerranée before moving to LafargeHolcim.

Semen Indonesia has said that it will open its new Rembang plant in Central Java in the first half of this year. AfriSam is reportedly appointing a new chief executive officer to help pave the way for the company’s proposed merger with PPC. Stephen Olivier, AfriSam’s existing CEO, is to be replaced on a short-term basis by Rob Wessels, a former chief investment officer at AfriSam’s partner Phembani Group, until the permanent candidate is announced. Bheki Mthembu, former general manager of PPC’s operations in Gauteng, has been appointed CEO of PPC’s Rwandan subsidiary, CIMERWA. Mr Mthembu began his career at PPC in 1995 as a development chemist. Italian cement producer Cementir has appointed Paolo Bossi as CEO of Cementir Italia, Cementir Sacci and Betontir.
