Argentina-based Loma Negra reported a 2.2 per cent YoY drop in 2Q net revenue to ARS7.47bn (US$165m) while consolidated adjusted EBITDA increased 7.1 per cent YoY to ARS1.929bn, according to Wall Street Online. Total cement consumption in Argentina in July 2019 increased 5.1 per cent YoY to 1,000,711t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The market requirement was entirely supplied by domestic plants, unlike in July 2018 when 2540t of cement was imported. Loma Negra reports fire at L'Amalí plant

Argentina’s Loma Negra has reported that a fire broke out in an auxiliary building of the second line at its L'Amalí plant, Olavarría, last Thursday night. The line is still under construction, however the cause of the incident is yet to be determined. The company has noted that no significant impacts are expected and the plant will operate normally to serve its customers, according to a press release.

Holcim Argentina to replace 35% of energy with wind power

Holcim Argentina has signed a contract with YPF Luz to replace 35 per cent of its conventionally-sourced energy with wind power. This translates to 142,000Mwh per annum of demand, which YPF Luz will supply from its 30MW Los Teros wind farm.
