Coal India to supply cement industry through e-auctions

Coal India will supply 4.65Mta to the cement industry for five years through e-auctions starting on Tuesday, according to a senior executive at the company. Of the 4.65Mt on offer annually, 1.14Mt can be procured each year through the railways, while the rest would be supplied through roadways. PT Lafarge Cement Indonesia, (LafargeHolcim) is likely to face a hefty environmental clear up bill after a barge spilt 700t of coal off the Sumatra coast, polluting beaches, damaging coral and impacting marine life. The incident occurred on July 30, when the barge, reportedly carrying coal to the Aceh cement factory,  was hit by high waves just 100m (330ft) off Lampuuk Beach in Aceh Besar district, on the northern tip of Sumatra.

Holcim Philippines moves coal stockpile after spill

To prevent the repeat of a coal spill that has polluted the shores of Bacnotan, Holcim Philippines Inc has moved its temporary coal stockpile to enclosed storage areas and put up three additional siltation pond, according to the Philippine Daily Enquirer. India’s cement producers, along with other sectors such as the captive power industry, will be able to take part in the fourth auction round of coal linkages, Coal India Ltd (CIL) announced. Coal delay sends NOCIBE cement price high

The ex-works price of cement leaving the Adja-Ouèrè plant of Nouvelle Cimenterie du Bénin (NOCIBE) has jumped from XOF61,880/t (US$116.69/t) to XOF73.780/t, according to Agence Benin Presse. The organisation has attributed the spike to a key coal cargo being held up in the port of Cotonou. The coal is due to be transported to the NOCIBE plant for use in clinker production.

Dinçer Çimento has ordered a Gebr Pfeiffer MVR 5000 R-4 raw mill and an MPS 250 BK coal mill for its Bilecik plant, Turkey. Featuring a drive power of 3800kW, the MVR 5000 R-4 mill will grind 425tph of raw material to a fineness of 12 per cent R90µm. National Co for Cement to avoid losses by coal mill

To help reduce the losses recently incurred by Egypt-based National Co for Cement, its new Chairman, Emad el-Din Mustafa has said the company will purchase a coal mill. The US$250m will reduce the cement company’s reliance on gas, which deepens the losses to more than US$3m YoY, according to Mr el-Din Mustafa. The company will also focus on training and updating workers’ efficiency, he added.
