Cement dispatches in Peru increased eight per cent YoY to 1.173Mt in March 2022, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. In March 2021 dispatches were at a level of 1.089Mt. Puerto Rican cement sales down 7% in March

In March 2022 cement sales in Puerto Rico fell by 6.5 per cent YoY to 1.47m bags of 94lb, or 62,677t, according to the country’s Institute of Statistics. Despite the fourth-consecutive monthly fall, sales are 24.5 per cent above the pre-pandemic level. Cement production in March 2022 slipped 0.7 per cent YoY to 32, 618t (765,000 bags). Output from the country’s cement factories has fallen for nine of the last 11 months.

Iranian cement market reaches 5.72Mt

Cement demand in Iran stood at 5.72Mt in March 2022, according to the Iranian Cement Association. The domestic output of 5.67Mt of cement and 6.33Mt of clinker was sufficient to supply the home market as well as meet overseas demand through exports of 0.312Mt of cement and 0.853Mt.

Argentina’s cement demand increased 7.5 per cent YoY to 1,047,194t in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, when consumption reached 974,347t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with the previous month, demand increased by 11.6 per cent. Cement sales in Brazil remained stable at 5.5Mt in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. When compared with February 2022, sales increased 14.6 per cent. "Sales in January this year were 8.2 per cent below January of last year. With the rains, it was not possible to distribute anything. In January 2022 Senegal’s cement market expanded 8.9 per cent when compared with December 2021 and 6.2 per cent when compared with January 2021, says the country’s National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD). Export sales declined 31.7 per cent MoM and 18.1 per cent YoY in January 2022.

US Portland and blended cement market expands in January

Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, edged up to 6.6Mt in January 2022, according to the US Geological Survey USGS). The largest consuming states were Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and Arizona, who accounted for a total share of 51 per cent of these shipments.
