Chile's cement dispatches edge up 2% in 2019

Chilean cement dispatches fell by 8.3 per cent YoY to 338,720t in December 2019 from 369,291t in December 2018, according to the Chilean cement and construction chamber, ChCC. MoM there was a much more modest drop of 0.9 per cent. Deliveries in the full-year of 2019 edged up 2.2 per cent to 4,081,896t when compared with full-year volumes of 3,992,501t in 2018.

Spanish cement consumption declined 8.6 per cent in January 2020 to 1,035,484t when compared with the year-ago period. Cement sales in Brazil during January 2020 fell by 0.9 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt as heavy rains in the north and southeast impaired performance, the National Union of the Cement Industry (SNIC) has said. Cement and clinker demand in Vietnam is expected to edge up by 4-5 per cent in 2020, according to the country's Ministry of Construction (MoC). Total cement sales by Vietnamese cement producers increased 13 per cent YoY and five per cent MoM to 9,573,455t in December 2019, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). US cement sales show modest gain in 2019

Cement sales edged up to US$12.5bn in 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Of this total 70-75 per cent of sales were to ready-mixed concrete producers, 10 per cent to concrete product manufacturers, 8-10 per cent to contractors and 5-12 to other customers. Salvadoran cement market expands 13% in 10M19

Apparent cement consumption in El Salvador increased 12.8 per cent YoY to 1,184,956t in 10M19 from  to 1,050,846t in the first 10 months of 2018, according to Casalco, the country’s construction chamber. In October alone, apparent cement consumption surged 23.5 per cent to 104,989t from 85,017t in October 2018. Cement prices in October reached US$7.57/bag of 42.5kg at the factory gate while on a retail level this was US$8.37/bag, including VAT.

Argentina’s cement market contracts 15% in January

Argentine cement consumption fell by 14.7 per cent YoY to 745,709t in January 2020, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. The market was entirely supplied by domestic production and no imports were recorded. Output from Argentine cement plants reached 758,123t, down 14.3 per cent YoY from 884,363t in January 2018. Of this total, 12,414t were exported, representing a 19.6 per cent increase when compared with the year-ago period.

Moroccan cement deliveries by members of the country’s cement association, APC, slipped to 1,038,250t in November 2019, down 2.5 per cent from 1,064,498t in November 2018, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation.
