Argentina’s cement consumption edged up 0.7 per cent YoY to 940,081t in December 2016, but fell 7.2 per cent MoM, according to provisional figures released by the country’s cement association, AFCP. Cement production in Senegal in the first 10 months of 2016 increased 10.2 per cent YoY, according to the government’s Planning and Economic Research Unit. Output at Sococim and Ciments du Sahel, which represent two out of three domestic producers, rose from 4,678,900t in 10M15 to 5,154,600t. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) sold around 25.8Mt of cement and clinker in 2016, representing a YoY rise of 11.2 per cent and surpassing the year’s target by 11 per cent. Pakistani cement manufacturers earned revenues of US$23.68m on exports of 455,720t cement in November 2016, compared to US$28.30m on 543,674t of exports in the previous month. According to the Vietnam Building Materials Association under the Ministry on Construction, Vietnam is projected to earn just US$556m this year from 15Mt of cement and clinker exports, representing a seven per cent YoY decline. Belarusian Cement Company and Eurocement Group, Russia, have signed a contract to regulate cooperation in 2017, according to the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry. Argentina’s cement market decreased 8.8 per cent MoM and 1.6 per cent YoY to 1,007,207t in November 2016, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.
