Peru: cement market expands 1.8% YoY in April

Peru’s cement demand increased 1.8 per cent YoY in April to 781,000t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. This reversed the previous month’s fall of 1.4 per cent. Cement output in April expanded by 7.5 per cent YoY to 831,000t. Some 29,000t of this volume was exported, reflecting an eight per cent decrease when compared with April 2015. In addition, 23,000t of clinker was exported – some 17 per cent below the April 2015 level.

Iran: cement exports down 20%

Iranian cement and clinker exports have fallen by 20 per cent over the past Iranian year (1394), an official said on Tuesday. The secretary of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, Abdolreza Sheikhan, said that Iran's exports of cement and clinker shrank to nearly 15Mt from 18.5Mt a year ago. Pakistan’s government plans to increase country cement exports and other commodities, in particular though the Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) 2015-18.   The government will provide PKR20bn (US$190m) for the implementation of the policy for the next three years. German cement consumption reached approximately 26.6Mt in 2015, some 2.2 per cent less than the previous year, according to German Cement Works Association (VDZ). Pakistan cement export volumes reached 393,391t on revenues of US$21.1m in January 2016, down 9.52 and 7.8 per cent, respectively compared to the previous month. On an annual comparative basis, the there was a 15.28 per cent decline in volume terms and a 19.14 per cent fall in revenue.
