Cement dispatches in Peru declined by two per cent in November 2022 to 1.167Mt from 1.185Mt in November 2021, reports domestic cement association, Asocem. Cement consumption in Spain has increased 1.8 per cent YoY in November to 1,343,393t, reports Oficemen, the country’s cement association. It is the first increase after six months of contraction. Iranian cement consumption increased by 2.9 per cent to 5,514,796t in November 2022 when compared with the year-ago level of 5.36Mt, according to the Iran Cement Association. Domestic clinker and cement production reached 6,642,108t and 5,736,653t, respectively. Cement sales in Brazil slipped 0.8 per cent YoY to 5.3Mt in November 2022, according to the Brazilian cement association,  SNIC. Cement consumption in Argentina saw a 0.2 per cent uptick in November 2022 to 1,144,153t when compared with November 2022, when the market absorbed 1,142,127t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Iran exported 7.6Mt of cement in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2021-October 2022), according to data from the Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry. The Philippines government has decided not to extend a tax on imports of cement. The levy on imported cement was first introduced on 22 October 2019 for three years. In the first year the tax was PHP250/t (US$4.5/t), which then fell to PHP245/t in the second year and PHP200/t in the third year.
