While year-to-date sales of cement in Brazil continue to be high in the period until October 2021, October’s stand-alone result has been seen as the worst of the year, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Cement consumption in Indonesia advanced four per cent in September 2021. Argentina’s cement consumption increased 6.6 per cent YoY and 2.8 per cent MoM to 1,141,043t in October 2021, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reports that cement dispatches declined by 9.1 per cent to 5.214Mt in October 2021 against 5.735Mt in the year-ago period. Cement production declined 14 per cent YoY in August 2021 to reach an index of 67, when compared with the base year of 2015, according to Federbeton, Italy’s concrete association. Lafarge Algeria, part of the Holcim group, has exported 2Mta of cement and clinker for the first time, according to a company press release. Cement and clinker exports from Vietnam decreased 1.6 per cent to 5,232,812t in September 2021 from 5,320,173t in September 2020. Clinker exports were down 11 per cent to 3,838,040t when compared with September 2020 while cement exports noted a 54 per cent drop to 1,384,772t, said the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA).
