The equipment will enable the cement manufacturer to use around 4000 tyres per day as alternative fuel to fire its kiln, representing 15 per cent of the thermal input. The Baudreix-Mirepeix site comprises a 200,000tpa alluvial gravel quarry and a concrete plant. The agreement will also include the acquisition of the 350,000tpa Louvie-Juzon, an open pit limestone quarry, as well as a further concrete plant. France: Saint-Pierre-la-Cour plant to raise alternative fuel usage05 May 2016, Published under Cement NewsLafarge is to increase its alternative fuel usage at Saint-Pierre-la-Cour, the biggest cement plant in France, reports Aggregate Research. The replacement rate of fossil fuels currently used could reach 83 per cent thanks to a new shredded solid waste recovery workshop, which was inaugurated in March 2016. Lafarge inaugurates new solid waste grinding unit in France31 March 2016, Published under Cement NewsLafarge has inaugurated a new solid waste grinding facility at its Saint-Pierre-la-Cour cement works in Mayenne, France. The new unit will help the French cement producer to increase its thermal substitution rate to over 80 per cent. Vicat’s profits declines in most markets15 March 2016, Published under Cement NewsFrench cement major Vicat saw its profits decline in most markets last year with the USA and India being the only exceptions. Turnover improved by 1.5 per cent in 2015 to EUR2457.9m and EBITDA was up by the same percentage to EUR448m, while at unchanged parameters there would have been declines of 4.4 per cent and 4.3 per cent, respectively. Vicat underlying turnover eases by 4.4%05 February 2016, Published under Cement NewsVicat's turnover improved by 1.5 per cent in 2015 to EUR2458m, which translates into an underlying decline of 4.4 per cent on a like-for-like basis. Turnover in cement advanced by 0.8 per cent to EUR1495m, or EUR1256m after deducting inter-group transfers.
