JK Cement Ltd on Monday launched a qualified institutional placement offering (QIP) to raise funds from institutional investors for its capital expenditure. A new facility in Korauzyak district, Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan), has been commissioned, according to Trend News. The Uzbek-Chinese joint venture, Titan Cement, saw a total investment of UZS302.4bn (US$36.3m) in the 200,000tpa project. Furthermore, in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, a new US$630m project has begun construction with the support of Chinese companies.

Cementos Melón to invest in new capacity

Chile-based Cementos Melón has announced that it will open a new cement facility in Punta Arenas in the first half of 2020. The first stage of construction will see an investment of US$30m, with an expected capacity of 0.5Mta. The Chinese are reported to have begun designs for a cement plant in Sibay, Bashkira, Russia, close to the Kazakh border. Oman Cement's Board gives go ahead for Duqum plant

Oman Cement company has informed Muscat Securities Market on 6 December that its Board of Directors has agreed to go ahead with setting up of a new integrated cement plant in Duqum area,  in central-eastern Oman.
