Irish Cement granted permission for Limerick plans

Limerick City and County Council has granted Irish Cement planning permission for an extension to its facility in Mungret. A spokesperson for the local authority stated permission for the development has been granted subject to 16 conditions, which were not fully disclosed.

GICA signed two agreements on Tuesday in Algiers with Chinese equipment manufacturer CBMI (a subsidiary of Sinoma) to build a new cement plant in Bechar and extend the plant in Zahana (Mascara). PT Semen Padang has been granted land use of a forest area covering an area of 243.3ha in Indonesia. Medcem Cameroon starts production

Medcem Cameroon, part of Turkey-based Eren Holdings, has commissioned its new plant in Yaoundé, Cameroon, after delays that saw the unit postpone the start of operations from March to June and October.  The company’s output is sold in 50kg bags, which retail at CFA4750 (US$7.97), according to local press reports.
