New order from Cementos Sur, Peru
12 October 2009

Dresser Roots Mexico recently won an order for two Large Rotary Blower packages model 1648 RAS-J driven by 500 HP motors with Variable Frequency Drivers (VFD) for a combustion air application to Cemento Sur. Cemento Sur is a cement plant located in Juliana, Peru.

The cement plant has three blower packages in operation. The blowers are the critical piece of equipment for the cement manufacturing process and Cemento Sur decided to improve the reliability of the plant by having two stand-by packages. For this project, Dresser Roots Mexico competed with other major blower manufacturers for the two blower packages and won the project by offering blowers with low power consumption, good delivery times and expert technical assistance.

The ROOTS 1648 RAS-J packages will be able to operate from 800 RPM to 1180 RPM through a VFD, offering the flexibility to operate the plant from 75% to 100% of the design capacity. They will be operating at a 4,000 meter elevation and will deliver 17,000 NM3/H at 13.41 PSIA discharge pressure. The packages were shipped from the Dresser Roots Mexico facility which sent one of its service engineers to assist Cemento Sur during commissioning and start-up in late August.
