Cement production in Senegal rose 12.9 per cent in 2015 when compared with the previous year, according to the country’s Directorate of Economic Forecasting and Studies (DPEE).
Cement producers Sococim and Cements du Sahel expanded their output from 4,939,200t in 2014 to 5,576,000t in 2015.
The rise has been mainly attributed to a 22.3 per cent increase in export sales, which jumped from 1,842,300t to 2,253,800t over the same period. Domestic sales rose by 6.4 per cent at 3,317,200t, up from 3,114,600t in 2014.
