Livetouch Investments is building a second cement plant in Zvishavane, Midlands, Zimbabwe, to the tune of US$20m under the first phase of the project. Mondi opens Moroccan paper bagging factory

Mondi has started production at its EUR16m greenfield bagging plant in Tangier, Morocco, which can produce 100m paper bags each year.     This brings Mondi’s total production capacity in West Africa to over 500m bags annually, helping to meet the growing customer demand for paper bags in the region. Dangote Cement Senegal incinerates narcotics worth US$40m

Dangote Cement Senegal incinerated 300kg of cocaine at its Pout cement plant at the request of the defence and security forces on 3 December 2022. The governor of the Thiès region, Alioune Badara Mbengue, presided over the incineration ceremony of the drugs which were valued at CFA25bn (US$40.1m). Sephaku Holdings (Dangote Group) has posted net profit after tax of ZAR26.7m (US$1.54m) for the six months ended 30 September, building on the net profit after tax of ZAR17.8m it posted in the prior comparable six months. Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe is planning to double its cement production volumes in 2023 following the expected 4Q22 startup of its new vertical roller mill. “The commissioning process of the VCM [vertical cement mill] started in the 2Q22. BUA Cement ’s revenue in 9M22 increased by 40.5 per cent to NGN262.6bn (US$5.99m) from NGN186.9bn as at 9M21. Operating profit increases by 31.1 per cent to NGN99.2bn from NGN75.7bn as at 9M21. Profit before tax increased by 19.5 per cent to NGN88.8bn from NGN74.3bn as at 9M21.
