CIMERWA posts 6M revenues of RWF44bn

Cimencam orders two Gebr Pfeiffer mills

Cimencam ( Holcim Group ) will expand production at its Figuil plant , Cameroon, and use Gebr Pfeiffer's MVR mills for grinding raw material and cement.  The new production unit will expand the current cement capacity of 0.15Mta at the 40 year-old plant. Lafarge Zimbabwe sells majority stake in its operations

Lafarge Zimbabwe is selling 76.45 per cent of its business to Fossil Mines Pvt Ltd. The Holcim group member announced on Monday that it was selling the majority stake in its business. This is a further sale for Holcim following recent divestments decisions taken in India for ACC Ltd and Ambuja Cements. The Manresa cement plant has a cement capacity of 0.45Mta and employees 800 people directly.  There is currently a 0.5Mta expansion project being constructed at the plant.

Sinai Cement reduces 1Q loss

Egypt-based Sinai Cement , owned by Vicat , has posted consolidated net losses after tax of EGP67.19m (US$3.6m) in the first quarter of 2022, an improvement when compared with the year-ago period when losses reached EGP147.97m. Standalone losses were reduced YoY to EGP66.25m from EGP146.23m. Revenues increased to EGP475.57m in the 1Q22 from EGP282.62m in the 1Q21, according to a bourse filing on 31 May.

Misr Beni Suef Cement sees profits surge to EGP48m in 1Q22

Egypt-based Misr Beni Suef Cement reported net profits after tax of EGP47.65m (US$2.56m) in the 1Q of 2022, up from EGP37.42 in the 1Q21. The company’s revenues advanced to EGP436.38m in the 1Q22from EGP255.92m in the year-ago period, according to a bourse disclosure on 30 May 2022.

Redecam commissions Bamburi Cement baghouse

Redecam has commissioned a new bag filter at Bamburi Cement  ( Holcim Group ), Mombasa , Kenya. The project required a turnkey solution to convert the main kiln and electrostatic precipitator for a new baghouse. The project had been scheduled for 2020 but had been delayed because of COVID-19. There were no loss-in-time accidents.

Votorantim Cimentos' see net revenue regional rises in Brazil and North America

In Brazil Votorantim Cimentos ’ net revenue in the 1Q22 was BRL2.7bn (US$525.6m), a 21 per cent increase compared to 1Q21. Bamburi Cement Group reported a pre-tax profit of KES2.2bn (US$19m) in 2021, representing a 22.3 per cent YoY increase from KES1.8bn in 2020. PPC Cement Zimbabwe announces solar investment

PPC Cement Zimbabwe has announced a US$40m solar power investment for its Bulawayo and Colleen Bawn plants to support the company’s energy requirements and help reduce gas supply in the country.  The planned projects are expected to have a combined output of 30MW, ow which 17MW will be for internal consumption and the excess to be fed to the national grid, according to a report in the Chronicle.
