Two cement companies have posted their interim financial results at the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) for the period ending on 30 June 2022, showing lesser earnings during this period. Saudi cement producer Arabian Cement Co reported a 2Q net profit after zakat and tax of SAR45m (US$12m), up 34.2 per cent from SAR33.5m in the 2Q21. Court ruling favours Arabian Cement in Emaar Economic City case

Arabian Cement Co reports that it has received a Jeddah commercial court order in its favour, ordering Emaar The Economic City to supply to the company 4.57Mt of limestone based on the agreement signed by the two parties on 28 April 2012. Arabian Cement exports advance 49%

Egypt-based Arabian Cement Co exports increased by 49 per cent YoY in the January-October 2021 period, according to Sergio Alcantarilla, the company’s CEO. Export destinations during this time included Libya, Spain, Sudan, the USA and Yemen. Arabian Cement posted a consolidated net loss of EGP23.21m (US$27,1844) in the 9M21, compared to EGP39.77m in the 9M20.

Egypt’s Arabian Cement Co has announced a consolidated net loss of EGP23.21m (US$1.48m) during the first nine months of 2021, an improvement from the EGP39.77m net loss seen in the 9M20.  The standalone net loss reached -EGP24.53m against -EGP38.25m in the January-September 2020 period.

Egypt's cement industry recorded strong sales in March with total sales reaching 4.99Mt, up 22 per cent MoM and 15 per cent YoY. The industry’s utilisation rate also surged to 74 per cent from 60 per cent in February. The average utilisation rate in 2020 was 59 per cent. Arabian Cement Co saw its net profits after zakat and tax surge to 320.8 per cent to SAR60.6m (US$16.2m) in 3Q19, compared to SAR14.4m in the 3Q18, reports Mubasher. Revenues of the Saudi cement company increased 64.1 per cent to SAR193.5m in the three-month period ended September. In 3M18 revenues reached SAR117.9m. Arabian Cement records 96% fall in profit

Egypt’s Arabian Cement has reported a 96.3 per cent YoY decline in consolidated profits for the first quarter of 2019, declining to EGP5.97m (US$350,284) from EGP162.01m in the year-ago period. Sales fell to EGP827.85m in the 1Q19, compared to EGP913.93 in the corresponding period of last year. Stand-alone results show a 97.4 per cent decrease in profits to EGP4.23m from EGP160.95m.

Arabian Cement returns to profit in 1Q19

Arabian Cement net profits reached SAR37.1m in the first quarter of 2019, compared to net losses of SAR6.1m in the year-ago period, according to a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange. Net profits surged 127.6 per cent QoQ from SAR16.3m in 4Q18. The company attributed the turnaround to higher revenues and lower costs. In addition, reduced general and administrative expenses and lower losses in its Jordan unit contributed to the more positive result.

Saudi producers face declining results in 3Q18

Saudi's Arabian Cement has posted a 51.2 per cent YoY decline in net profit during the 3Q18, falling from SAR29.5m (US$7.86m) to SAR14.4m. Furthermore, sales decreased 27.7 per cent to SAR117.9m from SAR163m. Elsewhere, Umm Al Qura Cement has recorded a net loss of SAR3.9m for the third quarter, compared to a profit of SAR5.1m in the year-ago period. Sales dropped 23.6 per cent YoY to SAR33.7m from SAR44.1m.
