Cementos Molins first-quarter profit down by 53%

Spanish cement maker Cementos Molins reported a 53 per cent on the year drop in its profit for the first quarter of 2013 to EUR4.7m, mainly due to the losses sustained by the domestic market. Spanish subsidiaries closed the quarter with a EUR10.96m loss, 47 per cent more than the previous year. Argentine cement factories shipped 938,872t in March 2013 (including exports), representing an 11.9 per cent increase compared to February, latest data from local cement association AFCP shows. Argentine February shipments decline

Argentine cement plants shipped 839,223t, including exports, representing a decline of 7.1 per cent on February last year, according to the latest data published by association AFCP. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the February figure was 8.1 per cent less than the amount shipped in January. However, domestic sales, including imports reached 809,280t, an increase of six per cent YoY but a decline of 8.9 per cent MoM.

Argentina’s cement plants deliver 4.4% more cement in January 2013

Argentine cement plants delivered 913,336t of cement in January 2013, according to the latest data published by the country’s cement association AFCP. The January figure represents a 12.9 per cent increase MoM while when compared with January 2012, cement deliveries advanced by 4.4 per cent. Domestic dispatches, including imports, rose 12.8 per cent to 888,602t on the previous month, while YoY the increase was 3.2 per cent.

Argentina’s 2012 cement shipments fall 7.8% YoY

Total shipments (domestic and exports) from Argentine cement producers fell 7.8 per cent YoY, according to the latest update from the Asociacion de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP). For the 12 months to December 2012, total shipments reached 10.69Mt compared to 11.6Mt achieved in 2011. Argentine Portland cement shipments, including exports, slipped by 0.9 per cent MoM to 982,116t in November after registering two consecutive months of improvement. Cementos Molins posts EUR31m profit, up 85%

Spain’s Cementos Molins has posted a profit of EUR31.16m in the first nine months of the year. The 85 per cent rise has been attributed to successful foreign business, which continues to offset the decline in Spanish sales. The company’s operations in Spain have seen profits decline on the back of a 16 per cent drop in domestic sales as Spanish cement demand continues to post further lows. In September 2012, Argentina shipments (including exports) reached 907,186t, representing 5.4 per cent increase compared to August. However, compared to September last year, shipments fell 17.8 per cent. Domestic consumption reached 889,649t, representing a rise of 5.8 per cent from the previous month.
