Argentina: May shipments decline 11.8% YoY26 June 2012, Published under Cement NewsIn May 2012, total Argentine Portland cement shipments (including exports) were 889,209t representing a YoY decline of 11.8 per cent, data from Asociacion de Fabricantes de Cemento (AFCP) showed. However, the May figures were up on a monthly basis by 11.4 per cent compared to April 2012. Domestic cement shipments (including imports) reached 871,478t during May 2012. |
Argentinian Court of Appeal rejects cartelisation appeal25 June 2012, Published under Cement NewsArgentina’s Court of Appeal has rejected the appeal made by Loma Negra, Juan Minetti, Cementos Avellaneda, Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia and Cemento San Martín, upholding the previous price-fixing ruling and the multi-million peso fines attached. The companies were awarded fines of ARS300m (US$66.5m) as penalty for anti-competitive practices between 1981-99. Argentine April shipments decline08 May 2012, Published under Cement NewsArgentine shipments (including exports) in April 2012 fell 17.9% from the previous month to 798,513t, data from the Argentine cement association, AFCP, shows. Compared to April 2011, shipments were down 16.5%. Domestic sales, including imports, reached 782,379t, a YoY drop of 17.9 per cent. |
Loma Negra announces new plant construction, Argentina20 April 2012, Published under Cement NewsArgentine cement producer Loma Negra has announced it will invest US$250m in a new cement plant in the province of San Juan. The factory will be built in the town of Pocito, 20km from the capital of San Juan, and will have a production capacity of 1Mta of cement. Currently, Loma Negra has nine plants, six of which are in the province of Buenos Aires, while the remaining are in Neuquén, San Juan and Catamarca. Loma Negra is part of Brazilian conglomerate Camargo Corrêa. |

On a YoY basis, shipments were up 5.2%. Domestic sales, including imports totalled 952,811t, a MoM advance of 24.9 per cent and a YoY rise of 4.5 per cent. |
Argentina dispatches decline MoM13 March 2012, Published under Cement NewsCement dispatches from Argentina (including exports) during February 2012, reached 783,872t, representing a Month on Month (MoM) decline of 13.3 per cent compared to the previous month, data from he association of Portland cement manufacturers (AFCP) showed. Compared to February 2011, dispatches were down six per cent. Domestic consumption meanwhile reached 763,164t during the month, down 14.5 per cent on the previous month and a reduction of 6.9 per cent compared to February 2011. |
