Cement demand in Argentina advances 19%

In October 2013, Argentinean cement plants shipped 1,151,413t of cement, including exports, representing a 9.5 per cent increase compared to the previous month and a 16.2 per cent rise YoY. Domestic consumption, including imports, reached 1,136,672t, up nine per cent from September and increasing by 19.1 per cent YoY .

Argentina: cement market expands 17% YoY

In September, Argentina’s cement producers delivered 1,050,170t of cement, including exports. While this represents a 2.7 per cent decrease when compared with August dispatches, the volume rose 15.8 per cent YoY. The internal market absorbed 1,041,084t, 2.8 per cent less than the previous month. However, when compared with September 2012, Argentine producers enjoyed a 17 per cent rise in sales.

Cimpor outlines Latin America spend

Cimpor is to invest some BRL3bn (US$1.319bn) over the next four years which is expected to include new factories in Brazil and Argentina. Company CEO Ricardo Lima said the main objective is to reinforce Cimpor's position in Brazil where it operates in all regions except the north. Argentine monthly shipments rise 24% YoY

During August 2013, Argentine Portland cement factories shipped 1,076,148t (including exports), representing an increase of six per cent compared to July 2013 and a rise of 25 per cent against the same month of last year. Data from local association AFCP showed that domestic cement consumption, including imports, reached 1,074,393 t , exhibiting a r ise of 6.9 per cent compared to the previous month and 27.7 per cent YoY.

Argentina's July cement demand gains 11% YoY

Argentina’s cement plants dispatched 1.015Mt of cement to domestic and export markets, representing a MoM rise of nine per cent and a YoY increase of 11.3 per cent. The domestic market also enjoyed a significant advance in cement deliveries, which reached 1.005Mt, including imports. Compared with the previous month, this reflects a 9.9 per cent rise and with July 2012, domestic sales are up 11.1 per cent.

Uruguay to export 0.6Mt to Argentina

Uruguay’s ANCAP will be exporting 0.6Mt of Portland cement to Argentina and Paraguay, thanks to the expansion of its Paysandú works. Local cement producers in Argentina have reported a rise in dispatches (local and exports) for April 2013 whilst consumption on the local market has also demonstrated healthy gains, latest figures from the country's cement association, AFCP, show. Cementos Molins first-quarter profit down by 53%

Spanish cement maker Cementos Molins reported a 53 per cent on the year drop in its profit for the first quarter of 2013 to EUR4.7m, mainly due to the losses sustained by the domestic market. Spanish subsidiaries closed the quarter with a EUR10.96m loss, 47 per cent more than the previous year.
