Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte posted a loss of TND11.9m (US$3.6m) in the first half of 2022 when compared with a profit of TND1.3m in the 1H21. Ciments de Bizerte resumes bulk exports by sea

Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte announced it is resuming bulk cement exports by sea from the Port of Bizerte. The first ship was loaded with bulk cement destined for the Libyan market. The company has invested in new loading and unloading facilities.

Tunisian cement producer Ciments de Bizerte has seen its total turnover expand 1.6 per cent YoY to TND42.781m (US$15.6m) in the first half of 2020. Domestic turnover edged up 0.2 per cent YoY to TND40.112m while export turnover improved 26.8 per cent YoY to TND2.669m. Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has seen an 18.7 per cent rise in local turnover to TND22.9m (US$7.92m) in the first three months of 2020, against TND19.3m in the 1Q19. Société de Ciment de Bizerte halts cement sales

Tunisia’s Société de Ciments de Bizerte announced a temporary stop to cement sales until 19 April. The company said it had not seen a single case of coronavirus in its employees but would halt sales as a precaution. Government-owned Société de Ciment de Bizerte operates a 1.5Mta plant on the northern Tunisian coast.

Ciments de Bizerte posts 32% increase in turnover in 2019

In the 4Q19 Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte saw its local turnover increase by 56.6 per cent YoY to TND29.068m (US$10.3m) from TND18.559m in the 4Q18. Export turnover reached TND2.561m. For the full-year 2019 Ciments de Bizerte reported a 32.3 per cent rise in turnover to TND97.104m, up from TND73.388m in 2018. Ciments de Bizerte posts 5% rise in 2Q turnover

Ciments de Bizerte posted a 4.5 per cent rise in turnover to TND22.4m (US$7.8m) in the second quarter of 2019 when compared with the equivalent period in 2018. Cement production decreased by 4.1 per cent YoY in the 2Q19 to 143,283t. However, clinker output rose 7.3 per cent YoYt to 166,810t. Following completion of annual maintenance work, the company expects a significant rise in production, sufficient to meet domestic and export demand.

Ciments de Bizerte resumes exports after a decade

Ciments de Bizerte has restarted exports after 10 years with a 25,000t shipment of clinker to Cameroon. The consignment is part of the company’s renewed efforts to enter the export markets with bulk deliveries of clinker and cement. Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte saw its revenues fall to TND31,673m (US$12,923m) in 1H17 from TND34,564m. Its gross margin fell by TND2235m YoY and its operating income fell to TND1-545m, according to African Manager. At the end of June the company reported a loss of TND-16,613m from TND-8806m in 1H16.

Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has reported a TND22.179m (US$9.175m) loss in 2016, increasing the loss from TND6.61m the previous year.
