South Valley Cement posts net loss in 2019

Egypt’s South Valley Cement Co reported a net loss of EGP316.35m (US$19.7m) in 2019, against a net profit of EGP10.19m in the previous year. In the first nine months of 2019, the company had seen its net loss widen to EGP173.9m from EGP16.8m in the 9M18.

Egyptian cement exports decline by 32% Jan-May 2020

Egyptian cement exports declined by roughly 32 per cent during the first five months of 2020 to US$47m, compared to US$68m during the same period in 2019. Egypt exported cement in the 5M20 to about 51 countries, including 18 countries who had not imported Egyptian cement in the same quarter in 2019, reports Egypt Today.

Tourah Portland Cement sees loss widen in 1Q20

Egypt’s Tourah Portland Cement has seen its net loss widen to EGP64.9m (US$4m) in the first quarter of 2020, compared to EGP50.9m in the 1Q19. The company also reported an 82.8 per cent YoY decline in sales to EGP50m from EGP290.8m.

Suez Cement sees 27% fall in revenue

Egypt’s Suez Cement has posted an EGP389.65m (US$24.07m) net loss in its consolidated results for the 1Q20, compared to an EGP213.07m profit in the first quarter of 2019. The company’s revenue also fell 26.5 per cent YoY to EGP1.33bn from EGP1.81bn. Suez Cement’s standalone results saw its net loss widen to EGP193.84m in the January-March 2020 period, against EGP95.16m in the 1Q19.

Misr Insurance reduces Misr Cement-Qena stake

Misr Insurance Co has lowered its stake in Misr Cement-Qena from 9.3 to 4.68 per cent, Misr Asset Management said in a statement to the Egyptian Exchange on 23 June. The insurance company sold 3.33m shares for EGP20.74m (US$1.28m) at an average price of EGP6.23/share.

Sinai Cement sees net losses widen in 1Q20

Egypt’s Sinai Cement saw its net losses widen 35 per cent YoY to EGP105.44m (US$6.5m) in the first quarter of 2020, compared to a loss of EGP78.16m in the corresponding period of last year. However, the company’s net sales increased 5.3 per cent YoY to EGP211.73m from EGP201.08m in the 1Q19.

Arabian Cement reports 153% surge in profit to EGP15.9m

Egypt’s Arabian Cement Co has reported a 153 per cent YoY surge in consolidated net profit for the first quarter of 2020, rising to EGP15.91m (US$983,519) from EGP6.3m in the 1Q19. Standalone net profit saw an even larger increase to EGP16.3m from EGP4.23m.

Qena Cement's 1Q20 cement sales surge to EGP47m

Qena Cement reports net profits surged to EGP47m (US$2.9m) in the 1Q20, compared to EGP12m for the same period of the preceding year. Solar power plant approved for Arabian Cement

The Egyptian Electricity Utilities Regulatory and Consumer Protection Agency (EgyptERA) has approved the construction of a 7.5MW solar power plant for Arabian Cement Co. Egypt’s Misr Beni Suef Cement has reported a 101 per cent YoY increase in net profit to EGP59.37m (US$3.77m) in the first quarter of 2020, compared to EGP29.53m in the corresponding period of last year. However, sales declined 7.1 per cent YoY to EGP404.96m from EGP435.97m.
