Pakistan exports continue to fall in first quarter

Pakistan cement exports continued to fall in the first quarter of FY14-15, largely due to declining shipments to its biggest market of Afghanistan. Export volumes in the July-September 2014 period fell by 3.85 per cent to 2.436Mt while revenues were down 3.22 per cent to US$ 142.77m. In terms of the Pakistan rupee, revenues also showed a 5.38 per cent drop to PKR14.36bn. On a slightly more positive note, the average export price of cement inched ahead by 0.58 per cent YoY to US$58.59/t....

Portugal Semapa profit up 15%

Portugal's conglomerate Semapa, owner of cement maker Secil, posted on Friday a 15 per cent rise in nine-month net profit, helped by lower taxes on some of its overseas operations and a small increase in sales. Net profit rose to EUR80m the company said in a statement. Still, EBITDA fell 4.5 per cent from a year ago to EUR98m. Vietnam's October sales slip

Vietnam’s cement sales are estimated to have fallen by three per cent YoY during October to 5.37Mt, latest data from the country's Ministry of Construction shows. Of the total sales volumes, domestic shipments accounted for 4.25Mt. In the first 10 months of the year, total sales are estimated to have risen six per cent YoY to 53.22Mt, including 41.51Mt for the local market. Russian cement trade January-September 2014

According to the Federal Customs Service (FCS), Russia exported over 2Mt of cement worth US$155m in the first three quarters of 2014. Ukraine was the leader by shipments, with its share totalling 35 per cent. Kazakhstan's share reached 32 per cent and Belarus imported 21 per cent. Peru: September dispatches up 3.7%

Cement dispatches in Peru rose 3.7 per cent in September to 904,840t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Including exports, dispatches reached 946,762t. For 9M14, total domestic sales remained stable at 7.6Mt, edging up 0.4 per cent when compared with 9M13. Some 0.2Mt of exports were dispatched from the Latin American country in the period. Output registered a 0.81 per cent rise.

Cemex reaches agreement regarding Alcanar, Spain

Cemex has reached an agreement with the Santi Vila authorities to keep running its Alcanar works in Tarragona, Spain. In return the Generalitat commits to dredge the port of Barcelona so large vessels can moor and as such, enable Cemex to export to new markets such as the US. Argentina’s cement plants dispatched 1,054,294t of cement (including exports) in September 2014, according to the latest figures by the country’s cement association, AFCP.
