Iran produced 4.501Mt of cement in the first calendar month of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March 2014 - 20 April 2015), according to its Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade reported that the country. Over 70 per cent of the total (some 3.234Mt) was supplied to the domestic market during the month, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported. Cement despatches in Pakistan reached an all time high of 3.21Mt during April 2014 raising the industry hopes of a long awaited turnaround. Pakistan export volumes have seen a decline in the first nine months of the current fiscal both in terms of volumes and dollar value. However, latest monthly figures show a significant increase in exports to India. For the July 2013 – March 2014 period, Pakistan exported 6.123Mt of cement on revenues of US$374.78m compared to 6.522Mt at US$421.12m in the comparative period of the previous year. Full-year Iranian exports reach 18Mt

Iran exported around 18Mt of cement in the Iranian calendar year that ended on 20 March 2014, IRNA cited a report published by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade on Sunday.   The Tehran Times noted that the country’s annual cement output is currently about 80Mt, of which 50Mt is used domestically. In August 2012, former Iranian Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said that the country's cement production capacity would reach 110Mt by 2015.

Argentina: cement demand falls 1.8% YoY

In March 2014, Argentina’s cement companies shipped 910,954t, including exports, reflecting a 13.5 per cent MoM rise, but a YoY drop of three per cent. The domestic market was entirely supplied by local cement and demand rose MoM by 14.7 per cent to 898,807t but was 1.8 per cent lower than in March 2013.

Pakistan sales edge ahead in 9MFY13-14

Pakistan cement sales during the first nine months of the current fiscal rose marginally by 0.7 per cent to 24.705Mt, according to preliminary statistics. Data released by Invest Cap Research shows domestic dispatches rose by 1.6 per cent during the July 2013 – March 2014 period to 18.66Mt. Cement consumption in France increased 6.6 per cent to 4.386Mt in 1Q14 compared to 4.115Mt in the same period of last year, according provisional data released by French cement association SFIC. Domestic producers delivered 4.04Mt with the balance supplied by imports. Lafarge Pakistan net sales rise 7% YoY

Releasing further details on its 2013 performance, Lafarge Pakistan Cement said it saw net sales grow by seven per cent to PKR10.302m (US$105m) from PKR9624m. Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, sold 1.48Mt of cement and clinker in February, up 2.78 per cent from the previous month and 42 per cent from a year ago.
