Aliénor Ciments awarded first NF Hydraulic Binder certification

Less than a year after commissioning its cement plant at Tonneins, Aliénor Ciments has been awarded its first NF Hydraulic Binder certification. The certification relates to its CEM I 52.5 R CE CP2 NF product. The certification attests that the cement complies with the standards and additional requirements by Afnor Certification and allows the Cem’In’Eu subsidiary to display the NF mark on the packaging of the company’s relevant products and transport vehicles.

Eqiom test 4 biogas trucks

France-based Eqiom is testing four biogass trucks as part of the company’s strategy to reduce the carbon emissions generated by its trucks by six per cent by 2020. As an alternative to diesel, the biogas helps improve air quality and protect the environment. Natural gas for vehicles includes 95 per cent methane and very light hydrocarbons. Cem’In’Eu has awarded the contract for a 0.25Mta grinding plant at Portes les Valence, Drôme, France, to Fives FCB. The order includes an FCB-B ball mill with a capacity of 34tph, which will operate in closed circuit with an FCB TSV high-efficiency dynamic separator. Vicat announces stake in 2170 to develop low-carbon cements

Vicat has approached 2170, a subsidiary of Burgundy-based JPS Granulats, to accelerate the development of low-carbon cements. Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe has obtained a long-term US$30m facility from its parent company to enable settlement of outstanding obligations, according to The Zimbabwe Independent. The company has also acquired a US$4.4 short-term loan facility to cover working capital requirements.

Vicat sees strong French volumes

Vicat's first-quarter turnover showed 4.7 per cent improvement to EUR600m, which represents an underlying advance of just 0.3 per cent at constant parameters and exchange rates. The cement turnover also grew by 4.7 per cent to EUR302m, as cement shipments declined by four per cent to 5Mt. Fives FCB completes kiln and tyre replacement at Val d'Azergues plant

Fives FCB has successfully completed the kiln shell replacement at LafargeHolcim's Val d'Azergues plant, France. LafargeHolcim previouly signed an agreement with Fives FCB in 2018 for the replacement of 9m section of its kiln shell at the Val d’Azergues plant, including the replacement of one tyre, roller and seal.

Vicat will deliver 914t of its Structurat cement, produced at its Montalieu plant, France, and 649t of Performat cement, manufactured at its St Egrève and Montalieu works, for the building of he Alpinium complex.
