Vicat's first-half turnover improved by two per cent to EUR1243.6m, which amounts to a 6.1 per cent reduction on a comparative basis. Holcim France to be renamed Orsima under CRH

As of 1 August 2015, the former French subsidiary of Holcim, now owned by CRH, will be renamed Orsima. Lafarge and Holcim reorganise group functions

Lafarge and Holcim are each preparing the reorganisation of group functions in the context of their proposed merger. Holcim’s proposed new organisation would result in a net reduction of approximately 120 jobs in Holcim Group functions in Switzerland. Vicat's first quarter turnover emerged 0.1 per cent ahead at EUR537m, which represents an underlying decline of eight per cent. The cement turnover improved by 5.9 per cent to EUR341m, as cement shipments declined by 7.7 per cent to 4.25Mt. Lafarge's first quarter turnover increased by 5.5 per cent to €2779m and EBITDA rose by 17.5 per cent to €403m, while the running profit advanced by 40.4 per cent to €205m. French cement demand hits 50-year low

Cement consumption in France fell a further 5.5 per cent to 18.2Mt in 2014, a level not seen since 1964, according to SFIC, the French cement association. In addition, the latest figures indicate that the downward trend is continuing. In 1Q15, demand decreased 10 per cent when compared with 1Q14. KORFEZ ENG has signed a contract with Italcementi Group for the supply of a new second compartment mill shell lining for one of the cement producer’s plants in France. Vicat's turnover improved by six per cent in 2014 to €2423m, which translates into an underlying increase of eight per cent  on a like-for-like basis. Turnover in cement advanced by 13.7 per cent  to €1261m, or €1483m before deducting inter-group transfers.
