Vicat optimistic for future growth

This week Vicat announced its 9M18 results with a 7.6 per cent growth in sales, while weaker exchange rates impacted on revenues. Parts of Europe and the US market had a positive effect on results, but Vicat found devaluation of the Turkish lira and production issues in Egypt slowing its progress. Vicat's turnover for the first nine months of the year advanced by 1.4 per cent to EUR1947m, which represents an underlying improvement of 7.6 per cent. The gearing level was reduced from 38.1 per cent at the end of September last year to 37.1 per cent this time. Turnover in cement was 1.8 per cent ahead at EUR1124m and represented 51 per cent of the group total. Cement deliveries improved by 3.1 per cent to 17.44Mt. Cem'In'EU inaugurates its Aliénor Ciments plant

Cem‘In’EU Group inaugurated its first modular grinding plant at Aliénor Ciments yesterday in Tonneins, 100km southeast of Bordeaux, France. The 0.22-0.25Mta plant is the first of a network of grinding units that the group aims to construct in France, Poland and the UK. Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies (HGCT) is completing the construction of a 50,000t pilot plant in Bournezeau, Vendée, France. Vicat Group appoints Hugues Chomel as CFO

France’s Vicat Group has announced the appointment of Hugues Chomel as CFO, replacing Jean-Pierre Souchet, deputy CEO, who will now be serving as an advisor to the chairman and CEO. Mr Chomel joined the company in 2004 and has been the deputy CFO since 2013, having previously worked for Schneider Electric, Alstom and Deloitte.

Vicat is looking at Brazil

Vicat has confirmed that it is in conversations with Ciplan, Cemento Planalto SA, which could lead to an investment in the Brazilian group. The privately-owned Ciplan was established in 1968 and is active in cement, mortar, concrete and aggregates and has around 1100 employees.  No further information was disclosed by Vicat.

Vicat announces expansion plans in India

At the inauguration of a 1.2Mt bulk cement terminal in Mumbai, France-based Vicat Group announced that it has invested INR3bn (US$43m) this year on capacity expansions in southern and eastern India.
