INC deliveries impacted by bag shortage

Paraguay’s state-owned cement producer INC is still not delivering cement from its Villeta plant due to a shortage of bags, reports ABC Color. The company has received bids for a contract to deliver bags but they were too high for its allocated budget of PYG31.79bn (US$4.6m). The bids from Bolpar and Kuatiapo were PYG52.2bn and PYG45.2bn, respectively.

INC raises cement price

Paraguayan cement producer INC has increased the price of a bag of cement by PYG2500 (US$0.42). The company is now selling cement for PYG39,800/bag. The company has attributed the need to increase cement prices due to higher transport costs. The low water level in the Paraguay river has led to the need to use trucks to move raw materials and has also resulted in cement shortages in the country. INC is aiming to maintain supply at 35,000-40,000 bags/day.

INC sales surpass 1m bags in January

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) sold 1,003,000 bags of cement in January, of which 87 per cent was sold from its Villeta plant, according to Derlys Ortiz, the company’s commercial manager. Paraguay’s INC to launch new cement

Industrial Nacional de Cemento (INC) of Paraguay will launch a new type of high-strength cement, CP II - C40 in February in the domestic market, according to INC President, Jorge Méndez. "With this new product we seek to gain other niches within the local market and thus also have presence with our brand," said Mr Méndez. At present, the company produces three types of Portland cement: CP II C-32, CP IV -32 and CP II F-32.

Paraguay: INC takes delivery of new mill

On Tuesday Paraguayan cement producer Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) took delivery of the new mill for its Villeta works. It is expected that the new mill will help the cement producer to double production capacity. Forecasts indicate that the increased supply to the market will result in a fall in cement prices to PYG35,000 in around the first quarter of 2018 although a decrease may start as early as the end of this year.

Several Paraguayan cement distributors have complained about supply issues which sees them receiving only 13-25 per cent of their normal order volumes. Paraguay: INC lowers cement price

INC has reduced the price for three types of cement. Vallemí cement will see a fall from PYG38,990 (US$8.34) to PYG35,000 while cement sold from the Villeta works will see its price reduced from PYG41,500 to PYG41,000. Pozzolana cement now costs PYG41,500, down from PYG42,500. The company is currently investing US$67m in a fuel conversion project, saving US$10m annually as well as increasing production by 8000 bags/day.
