Polish cement market to grow 6-7% in 2018

Cement demand in Poland is expected to grow by 6-7 per cent in 2018. This would bring domestic demand to 18Mt, according to the Association of Cement Producers (SPC). The 39.9 per cent-owned LafargeHolcim associate Huaxin Cement is investing in a US$140Mta cement works that it is building in Nepal.  Lafarge Malaysia’s turnover came down by some 13 per cent to US$409.5m in the first nine months of 2017, while a net loss of US$33.1m was incurred, compared with a US$10.5m profit for the same period last year. LafargeHolcim plans PLN150m investment in Kujawy

LafargeHolcim intends to invest PLN150m (US$42m) in alternative fuel-related projects in its Cementownia Kujawy cement works in Poland. The company will modify the clinker line to burn alternative fuels and improve product quality. Cement production in Poland increased by two per cent in 2016, according to the Polish Association of Cement Producers. In 2017 cement demand is expected to grow by 2.5 per cent to 16.1Mt thanks to healthy housing and transport infrastructure construction markets, the association said. EkoPaliwa, a waste recycling company in Chelm, Poland, commissioned Weima to install two Powerline 3000 single-shaft shredders with hydraulic drive used in secondary shredding in its plant to produce alternative fuels. Polish monthly cement production up 3.1%

Cement production in Poland decreased by 3.1 per cent YoY to 1.22Mt in November, while sales rose by 3.6 per cent to 1.24Mt, Poland's Cement Producer Association said in a statement. Year-to-date production grew 0.6 per cent YoY to 14.65Mt. Meanwhile sales over the period rose by 1.1 per cent to 14.95Mt.
