Belarusian Cement Co plans to increase exports to Poland

Belarusian Cement Co (BCC) opened a representative office in Poland earlier this year in anticipation of higher exports to central Europe. Poland sees cement production rise in 2019

Poland’s Association of Cement Producers estimates that the production of cement in 2019 rose by around one per cent YoY to 19Mt. However, imports from Belarus grew by an estimated 250,000t and imports from Turkey increased by about 50,000t. Cement sales for 2020 are expected to remain consistent with 2019. LafargeHolcim plans EUR10m investment in Kujawy

LafargeHolcim will be investing EUR10m in its Kujawy cement plant in Poland. The company will be launched a new product on the market as well as increase the use of alternative fuels (AFs) at the works. At present Cementownia Kujawy’s AF rate is between 80-85 per cent, or around 190,000t, but Lafarge plans to increase this to 90 per cent by 2021. To date Lafarge has invested around EUR100m in the Kujawy cement works, which produces approximately 2Mta of cement.

Poland on track to break production records in 2019

In 2018 cement production in Poland broke records to reach 18.94Mt, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO). Furthermore, production is up by 0.4 per cent YoY to nearly 12.3Mt in the 8M19. Decision to fine six Polish cement companies upheld

After nine years, the decision of the Polish Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) to fine six manufacturers for alleged collusion has been supported by a court of appeal. The total fine, PLN411m (US$121.33m), has been reduced to PLN280m following the appeal, according to PNB. Amongst the fined companies are Grupo Ozarow (PLN92.5m), Cemex Polska (PLN69.4m), Gorazdze Cement (PLN51.3m), Dyckerhoff Polska (PLN31.4m), Cementownia Warta (PLN23.2m) and Cementownia Odra (PLN12m)....
