Uzbekistan reports lower construction material imports

Uzbekistan saw construction material imports decline 20.9 per cent YoY to US$592.2m in the first half of 2020, according to the State Statistics Committee. The export of cement from Turkey to Germany increased 4.2 per cent from January-July 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, exceeding US$140.4m, reported the Turkish Ministry of Trade. Two cement shipments set to arrive in Libya

A ship transporting 4400t of bulk cement has arrived at Tobruk port, Libya, according to the country’s state news agency, LANA. Another shipment of around 3850t of cement is also expected to enter the port in the coming days. The Libya Herald also reported that domestic cement prices climbed to LYD75/t (US$53/t) at the start of August, compared to around LYD30/t in the same month of 2019.

China's cement imports surge in May

The imports of cement into China soared in May to 4Mt, twice the level seen at the start of the year as the housing market rebounded and infrastructure spending showed strong growth, according to brokerage Braemar ACM. The increase in incoming trade is helping smaller-sized bulk carriers, said the brokerage firm.

Bangladesh's cement industry has earned export revenue of US$0.53m in July 2020, the first month of FY20-21, compared to US$0.66m bagged in July 2019. Vietnam has exported an estimated 3Mt of cement and clinker with a value of US$117m in July, according to the country’s General Statistics Office. This represents a rise of 35.5 per cent in volume and 30.2 per cent in value when compared with July 2019. In the first seven months of 2020 total cement and clinker exports stood at 19.46Mt, up 9.4 per cent YoY. Their value fell 3.4 per cent YoY to US$732m.

Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) has released cement export data for the 12 months of July-June (2019-20). Iran continues cement exports to Afghanistan

A total of 54,000t of cement have been exported to Afghanistan from Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, since the start of the Iranian year on 20 March. The cement was transported by 2,056 trucks through the Milak border crossing, said Ayoub Kord, head of the Roads and Urban Development Organisation of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
