Offloading of imported raw materials for the cement industry continues at the Chittagong Port of Bangladesh (CPA), even as the port suffers container storage congestion. Vietnam exported 7.5Mt of cement and clinker, to a value of US$291m, in the first quarter of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The import of clinker into Bangladesh has increased by 3.6 per cent in the first seven months of the FY19-20, according to data released by the Central Bank of Bangladesh. Ukraine’s cement production advanced 10.6 per cent after anti-dumping duties on cement imports were introduced, according to Ukrcement Executive Director, Roman Skilskyi. “After Ukraine introduced antidumping duties in May 2019, cement companies increased the production output of cement clinker by 10.6 per cent as of August 2019 compared to August 2018,” Mr Skilskyi said.
