The first export consignment of cement from Bangladesh to Tripura, in India, through the inland waterways has been completed. A Bangladeshi barge carrying 50t of cement reached Sonamura in the northeastern Indian state of Tripura two days after setting sail from Daudkandi. Qassim Cement Co has been awarded a licence to export cement by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Investment. The licence is effective for one year, according to a bourse statement. In the 2Q20 the cement producer posted net earnings of SAR85.47m (US$27.8m), up 21.3 per cent YoY.

Cementos Pacasmayo begins terminal operations

Peru’s Cementos Pacasmayo has resumed operations from the port terminal of Yurimaguas, Loreto, distributing 60,000 bags of cement to Iquitos. The company operates in the port through its subsidiary, Cementos Selva, which has a 4.9Mta plant in Rioja. The operations were launched in mid-August with the arrival of several vessels, which will set sail for Iquitos while complying with all COVID-19 safety protocols.

Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) has released cement export data for July 2020 (FY20-21). During this period, the industry earned good export revenue as the both value and quantity of cement exports increased on a MoM basis, but shows a mixed trend when compared with the YoY basis.
