Tajikistan exports 0.5Mt of cement in Jan-May

In the 5M20 Tajikistan produced over 1.5Mt of cement and exported 0.5Mt of this output, according to Avesta. The largest share of exports, 238,300t, was supplied to Uzbekistan, with an additional 227,200t to Afghanistan and 34,100t to Kyrgyzstan. Total cement exports were valued at US$20.5m.

Jan-May exports from Turkey up 37%

In the January-May 2020 cement and clinker exports from Turkey surged 37 per cent to 9.8Mt, according to the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB). Export revenues advanced by 16.7 per cent YoY to US$447m. Cement exports were up  to 4.8Mt while clinker exports rose to 5Mt. Dangote Cement starts Senegal exports and sets new target

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement exported its first shipment of clinker to Senegal during the weekend. The 27,800t shipment set off from the company’s terminal in Apapa Port, Lagos. "This vessel, being the maiden ship is exporting 27,800t to Senegal and this is just a tip of the iceberg as to what we have in plan. Indonesian export shipments surge 41% in May

Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia advanced 41 per cent YoY in May to reach 625,650t, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). In May 2019 cement and clinker exports stood at 443,773t. Clinker exports were up 43.1 per cent YoY to 565,542t while cement exports increased 23.5 per cent YoY to 60,109t. BCMA calls for 60% cut in duties on clinker imports

The Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers' Association (BCMA) has issued a call for the government to cut import duties of clinker by 60 per cent. "We had zero sales during the countrywide closure in the last two and a half months," said Md Alamgir Kabir, president of BCMA. "So for our survival we need the import duty on clinker, the sector's major raw material, to be brought down to BDT200/t from the existing BDT500/t." Cement exports from Turkey to Georgia fell by 8.2 per cent between January-April 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to US$12.8m. In April 2020, cement exports to Georgia fell 52.9 per cent YoY to US$1.5m. The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export data for the 10 months of July 2019 to April 2020. Uzbekistan has resumed the import of cement after the goverment’s 22 May resolution, reports Central Asia News. On 23 April the country had temporarily suspended the import of cement due to the coronavirus pandemic. The measure was put in place to support domestic producers following a decline in demand as construction activity was halted.
