Total shipments of cement and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico were up slightly to 10.3Mt in August 2019 when compared with August 2018. Cemex reportedly looks to sell stake in Louisville plant

Cemex is reportedly looking for a buyer for its controlling interest in the Kosmos cement plant in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. The company is working with Bank of America Corp and Citigroup Inc on the sale of its 75 per cent stake, said the unnamed sources for El Financiero. The remaining stake in the company is owned by Buzzi Unicem. The sources also noted that no definitive decisions have been made and the deliberations may not lead to a transaction.

The US Portland Cement Association (PCA) has published its annual Fall Forecast in which it predicts moderate growth for cement demand through 2019 and into 2020. US-based Lehigh Hanson Inc is set to break ground this week on its US$600m expansion and modernisation project at its plant in Mitchell, Indiana.
