Sesco Cement to build new white cement terminal in Florida

Port Tampa Bay has approved an up to 40-year lease agreement on seven acres of land for Sesco Cement at its Port Redwing site in Gibsonton, Florida. The estimated US$19m investment will see the company use Berth 302 for the ship and rail terminal handling of white cement. Al Jouf Cement to convert second line to white cement production

Saudi Arabia’s Al Jouf Cement Co has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Riga Co to convert its second line to the production of white cement. The line, which to date produced grey cement, reportedly entered trial production in 2013 and currently has a clinker capacity of 5000tpd. The company has stated that the agreement will enter into force on the date it is signed for a period of six months.

LafargeHolcim Algérie loads its first white cement shipment onboard for export LafargeHolcim Algérie has carried out its first exports of white cement from Oran, Algeria, to South Africa. A consignment of 10,000t of “Super White” cement, produced in the company’s Oggaz plant, was shipped to Cape Town. The shipment is part of the company’s export programme, launched in 2018. In the run-up to 2021, LafargeHolcim expects to export 10Mt of grey cement clinker to west Africa.
