Report calls for co-processing of wind turbine blades to be scaled up

The cement sector's cooperation is expected to be required to ease the challenge of recycling decommissioned wind turbines, according to a new report from WindEurope, the European Chemical Industry Council and the European Composites Industry Association. Geocycle (LafargeHocim) has received an XR3000C shredder from UNTHA Ibera for its Albox (Almeria) facility for co-processing in Spain. Kenya’s Bamburi Cement’s waste division, Geocycle and Vivo Energy Kenya have agreed to collect and safely dispose of waste oil from Shell service stations across the country and Vivo Energy’s commercial customers. Votorantim Cimentos has reported a 3.7 per cent YoY increase in its consolidated net revenue from goods sold and services in the opening half of this year to BRL5.822bn (US$1.403bn). Holcim Argentina subsidiary Geocycle has signed an agreement with Argentina’s Minister of Production, Labour and Sustainable Development, Graciela Pinal de Cid to enable the co-processing of tyres.
