Cement sales in Saudi Arabia increased 16.5 per cent YoY to 4.75Mt in November 2020, driven by the Ministry of Housing’s programmes, according to NCB Capital Co. On a monthly basis, local cement sales edged up by 0.7 per cent in November, reaching the second-highest monthly figure since January 2017. Cement consumption in Bolivia dropped 12.6 per cent YoY to 337,063t in September 2020 from 385,624t in September 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, INE. Chile's cement demand up 16% in October

Cement consumption in Chile increased 16.2 per cent to 392,688t in October 2020 from 337,959t in the previous year, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. When compared with the previous month, the market expanded 19.7 per cent from 328,184t in September 2020. In January-October 2020 period, domestic demand dropped 10.6 per cent to 3.043Mt from 3.401Mt in the 10M2019.

Cement demand in Argentina surged 25.1 per cent YoY and edged up two per cent MoM to 1,091,549t in November 2020, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.  The market was entirely supplied by domestic output. Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 5.2 per cent YoY to 1.169Mt in October 2020 when compared with 1.111Mt delivered in October 2019, according to the national statistics agency, DANE. The rise was supported by an increase in the retail segment, where dispatches were up by 10.6 per cent YoY. The Puerto Rican cement market contracted 3.1 per cent to 58,328t in October 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to the country’s statistics institute. Brazil’s cement market expanded 14.5 per cent YoY in October 2020 with demand at 6Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Cement deliveries in Morocco fell 7.8 per cent YoY to 1,249,416t in October 2020 from 1,354,775t in October 2019, according to the Ministry of National Land Use, Urbanisation and Housing. The ready-mix concrete and infrastructure segments in particular faced challenges. Cement consumption in Bolivia edged up 7.4 per cent MoM from 231,662t in July 2020 to 248,852t in August 2020, according to the country’s statistics agency, INE. When compared with August 2019, demand fell 32.7 per cent from 369,520t. Cement production in domestic cement plants slipped 2.6 per cent MoM from 256,231t in July 2020 to 249,579t in August. When compared with August 2019, the drop was 30.4 per cent from 358,461t.
