Total cement deliveries by Indonesian cement producers advanced 2.6 per cent in the first two months of 2019 to 11.216Mt when compared with 10.93Mt in the 2M18, according to the latest data from the Indonesian Cement Association, ASI. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 11 per cent YoY to 6.4Mt, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). A combined 49 per cent of these were accounted for by the five leading cement-consuming states – Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Arizona. Peru’s cement consumption advanced 4.8 per cent to 0.931Mt in March 2019 when compared with March 2018, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. The figure includes 105,500t of cement imports, up 116 per cent from 48,900t in March 2018. Tajikistan has produced around 843,000t of cement in the first three months of 2019, an increase of nine per cent from 747,000t last year, according to Asia-Plus. Bangladesh's cement industry recorded a reduction of 16.4 per cent in export revenue to US$8.16m during the first nine months of FY18-19 (July 2018-March 2019) compared to US$9.76, earned in the equivalent period of the previous financial year, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Total cement sales in Pakistan declined by seven per cent YoY to 4.3Mt in March 2019 and six per cent YoY to 29.3Mt in 9MFY19. However, exports from the southern region continued to be strong. GICA-owned Hadjar Soud de Skidka (SCHS) plant in Algeria has exported 37,000t of clinker from Annaba port, according to its CEO Youcef Merabet.
