Iran reports 4% growth in 11M cement exports

Iran has reported a four per cent YoY growth in cement exports at 12,652,000t in the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (21 March 2018-21 February 2019). However, the value of cement exports fell 14 per cent YoY to around US$398.4m, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA). Cement imports also declined during the period, decreasing 21 per cent YoY to around 39,600t.

Tajikistan boosts output in Jan-Feb 2019

Tajikistan recorded a nine per cent increase in cement production to 482,000t in the first two months of 2019. Exports from the country reached 182,000t in the same period, according to a report by Asia-Plus, however, an annual comparison was not stated. An estimated 5Mta of cement capacity is now operational in the country, with Huaxin Gayur Cement, Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement and Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement accounting for approximately 80 per cent of the overall volume of cement output.

State Bank of Pakistan reviews performance of cement in 1H19

The State Bank of Pakistan has released its second quarterly report on The State of Pakistan’s Economy for FY19. Tabuk Cement wins clinker export order to Yemen

Tabuk Cement of Saudi Arabia has won an order to export 500,000t of clinker to Golden Oil Co in Yemen. The contract will conclude by the end of 2019, according to a bourse statement. The financial impact will be reflected in Tabuk Cement's financial business report in the 2Q19. Tabuk Cement operates an integrated cement plant at Duba port producing 1.2Mta of cement.

Qassim Cement to export 120,000t of cement to Kuwait

Saudi Arabia’s Qassim Cement Co has signed an agreement with Kuwait-based Al-Arada Building Materials Co to export 120,000t of cement. While no value for the deal has been released, the related financial impact is expected to show later in the year. The deal came into effect on 1 March and will be valid until the end of 2019, according to a bourse statement.

Exports of cement from Pakistan continue to swell in 8MFY19

Apparent domestic consumption advanced 2.9 per cent from 97.4Mt in 2017 to 100.2Mt in 2018, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). National cement consumption in Peru slipped by 4.9 per cent in February 2019 to 0.893Mt, down from 0.9Mt reported in February 2018, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Total cement dispatches by Asocem-related producers were up 5.3 per cent YoY, but decreased by 2.8 per cent MoM to 0.796Mt in February 2019. Whale Rock Cement starts sourcing local clinker

Namibia's Whale Rock Cement, producer of the Cheetah Cement brand, has started to source clinker locally after initially sourcing it from Egypt, according to Zedekias Gowaseb, company chairman.
