Argentina’s cement market contracted 19.5 per cent YoY to 808,887t in December 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In December 2017 domestic off-take was 1.004Mt. Cement consumption in Vietnam remained largely stable in November 2018 when compared with the previous year at 5.675Mt, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Vietnamese cement exports hits record high in 2018

The volume of Vietnamese cement exports rose 55 per cent YoY to 31.65Mt in 2018, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). As the highest ever export value in the sector, it represents an estimated value of US$1.2bn. Export of cement from Pakistan to Afghanistan through land routes has started dwindling from the fiscal year 2010-11. During that period it was hovering at 4.715Mt and made Afghanistan a leading importer of Pakistan cement. Pakistan's cement industry received foreign exchange revenue of US$26.77m by exporting 635,192t of cement during November 2018, compared to US$26.74m and 616,648t in the previous month. This shows minor MoM growth of 0.1 per cent and three per cent in terms of value and quantity, respectively, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. Cement sales in the Brazilian market between January and November 2018 totalled 48.7Mt, representing a 1.2 per cent fall YoY, according to the National Union of the Cement Industry (SNIC). Apparent consumption of cement, which includes domestic sales plus imports, slipped 1.5 per cent YoY to 49Mt. Production rises in Iran's South Khorasan province

Two plants in Iran's South Khorasan province have produced around 765,000t of cement since the start of the current Iranian year (21 March-22 Oct), a 22 per cent YoY increase, according to Davud Shahraki, chairman of the province's Industry, Mining and Trade Organisation. Ciment Lafarge Souakri (CILAS) carried out it first export operation of 35,000t of clinker from Algeria’s Annaba port to west Africa. The shipment is part of LafargeHolcim Algeria’s drive to export more than 2Mt of product in 2020.
