Argentinian cement demand increased seven per cent YoY to 1,110,527t in September 2021 from 1,037,475t in September 2021, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with August 2021, there was a 2.5 per cent uptick from 1,083,8224t. There were no imports. Italy's cement output slips 6% in July

Italy's cement production index (base year 2015=100) reached 114 in July 2021, down six per cent when compared with July 2020, according to Federbeton, the Italian cement and concrete association. In June the index rose two per cent YoY to 112 while in May output expanded by 18 per cent YoY to 113. Cement dispatches in Peru advanced 18 per cent to 1.202Mt in August 2021 when compared with 1.018Mt in August 2020, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. When compared with July 2021, dispatches increased by six per cent. Asocem members dispatched 1.112Mt, up 19 per cent YoY and six per cent MoM. Rock Hard Cement closes operations in Trinidad

Rock Hard Cement has now closed its business in Trinidad and Tobago and is expected to look for opportunities elsewhere in the Caribbean. In a social media post, the company noted the challenges of operating in the country. “Unfortunately, the combination of a limit on imports of 55,000t combined with an import duty of 50 per cent means that Rock Hard Distribution Inc simply cannot operate in Trinidad.” The company had announced earlier this year that it was closing down on 1 July.

The Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, (CeMAP) Inc said Vietnam's cement exports to the Philippines rose 17 per cent YoY to 2.51Mt in the first four months of 2021, making the Philippines the second-largest destination for Vietnam exporters. Iran’s cement market contracted by 30.8 per cent MoM to 4Mt in July 2021 from 5.78Mt in June 2021. Clinker production declined from 6.75Mt in June 2021 to 3.95Mt in July 2021 while cement output decreased to 4.38Mt in July from 6.02Mt in June. In addition to a shrinking domestic market, exports of cement and clinker in July fell to 0.41Mt and 0.3Mt, respectively when compared with the previous month, when cement and clinker exports stood at 0.36Mt and 0.63Mt, respectively.

Argentina’s cement consumption increased 20.9 per cent YoY and 8.5 per cent MoM to 1,043,388Mt in July 2021 from 862,675t in July 2020 and from 961,512t in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.
